Take a closer look...
Not sure about anyone else, but I really needed the long weekend to just ‘try’ and forget about everything going on locally and globally.
We walked every day as a family, exploring the area around where we live. I ran with my 6 year old, who is now faster than me, and we spent huge amount of time together, at home remembering what is really important to us.
The time over the weekend made me realise that if you try really hard, and I did, to take a mini break from the incredibly stressful situation that the world finds itself in, that my little family finds itself in, time can help you get back a little bit of what ‘normality’ means to you. It’s not going to be over night, over weeks, or even months, but I certainly felt a glimmer of it this long weekend.
You can learn a lot about yourself, if you are willing to look that closely! How you treat people, how you conduct yourself. Likewise you learn a lot about other people too. For me this might be the single best thing to come out of this horrible situation. Some of what I have seen has been a real eye opener!
It’s the same for businesses. We have an unique opportunity to rethink the way we work, what we offer and how we will move forward in recovery. What more can we do? How can improve on what we do? How can we inspire and support the team we work alongside? (we all have a part to play in this, no matter what your job title). Working as a team and supporting every member is key to developing an even stronger team.
It’s crucial however to remember we all deal with difficult situations differently. Some of us will be already feeling the financial as well as emotional aspect of this situation, causing a new level of stress, one we’ve probably never felt before.
For me, for now, it’s about fully concentrating my daily efforts, work and family wise to keeping a positive outlook whilst looking closelythe part I play in all of this. I’m considering the person I want to be when we come out of the other side of this, which we will.
