Welcome Christiana!

When did you start at Leapfrog?
I started at Leapfrog in early November 2024!
What inspired you to join Leapfrog?
When I returned to Guernsey after university, Leapfrog was the first recruitment agency I signed up with, and Fiona immediately made me feel so relaxed and supported. My current role was being advertised, and I was lucky enough to be successful! My prior positive experience reinforced my desire to be part of a company that truly values people.
What does your job involve?
I am the first point of contact for visitors and clients. My role covers a range of general administrative duties, including handling incoming calls and emails, directing enquiries to the right team member, scheduling meetings, booking appointments, and managing the office calendar. I also prepare candidate CVs and documents, order office supplies, and help ensure the office and meeting rooms remain clean and professional. Additionally, I support the team by selecting which roles we feature on our social media each week.
How did your career lead you to your current position?
I was looking for a temporary position as I have plans to travel in the near future. Having worked in hospitality since I was around 14, with some retail experience in between, I’ve always enjoyed people-facing roles that offer variety. This role ended up being a great fit, giving me the chance to gain new experience while still working in a busy and engaging environment.
As someone with ADHD, I was initially concerned about how I would adapt to an office-based role, as I find it challenging to stay seated for long periods. However, the team at Leapfrog has been so supportive and understanding, which has made such a difference! I’ve really enjoyed learning from the consultants and getting a better understanding of different industries and career paths—it’s been a great way to build my knowledge for the future.
What relevant qualifications/professional qualifications do you have?
In July 2024, I graduated from the University of the Arts London with a First Class Degree in Acting and Performance, where I studied on the Wimbledon College of Arts campus. Prior to that, I gained a Merit in the BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts Extended Diploma at The Guernsey College of Further Education, as well as a BTEC Certificate in Dance.
Most enjoyable part of working at Leapfrog?
I love greeting candidates and making them feel more at ease when they come into the office! I also really enjoy expanding my knowledge by learning from my team about various industries and companies, gaining valuable insights into the different job sectors.
Proudest moment in life to date?
In my second year of university, I had the amazing opportunity to perform a dance piece at The National Gallery in London. It was such an incredible experience—to be there, surrounded by the art, interacting with both the pieces and the public. And to top it off, I had an incredible costume designer, which made it even more special!
One thing you’d like to see improve in Guernsey?
I’d love to see Guernsey create more opportunities for young people returning from university, especially for those who don’t want to go into finance or a trade. There really needs to be more creative opportunities here. I also think the housing crisis needs to be a bigger priority and tackled properly.
Dream job when you were little?
An actress… Some things never change! It’s still my dream job, and I’m working towards it!
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I love fitness! I dance commercial and heels styles, so I’m usually either choreographing something or learning new routines. To develop my acting skills, I’ve gotten involved in a creative project here and will be starting rehearsals soon for a local play. I also love running, boxing, and going to the gym. And if I’m not there, I’m probably off frolicking in the trees somewhere or making Pinterest boards for photoshoots!
Business/personal goals you’re working towards?
A healthy mind journey, of course! I’m slowly building a portfolio of photoshoots, styling, and art directing, and I’d really like to make a short film this year. Lots of creative goals in the works!
Job in three words…
People Centric, Dynamic, Interesting
One thing you’d take to a desert island with you?
My hair gel, because at that point, we’re working with a slick-back FOREVER.
