Welcome to the team, Licinia!
Meet Licinia Goncalves, Recruitment Consultant, here at Leapfrog.
Licinia joined us back in March this year and has since proven to be an invaluable member of our team. We sat down with Licinia and asked her questions about her career, what her role entails and life outside of work.
What made you join Leapfrog?
It was actually my current colleague Fiona who helped me to secure my first job after leaving school and I have been a longstanding candidate ever since! I love Leapfrog’s ethos and how their approach goes beyond the superficial; it's about ensuring long-term compatibility for both candidates and clients!
What your job involves:
Job matching, candidate support, screening and assessment, client consultation and market insights.
How did your career lead you to your current position?
I began my career in HR, where I developed a passion for recruitment. This led me to Work Rehabilitation, a rewarding role where I supported the unemployed and long-term sick in finding meaningful employment. I then became a Job Centre Manager until the onset of COVID-19 – following this, I was seconded to various positions within the civil service including Housing and Education. Ultimately, my passion lies in helping and connecting with people, and this role perfectly blends my passion for recruitment and commitment to supporting others.
What relevant qualifications/professional qualifications do you have?
A Certificate in Counselling (NCS' Quality Approved) and a Certificate in Personnel Practice - Associate Member of the CIPD.
Most enjoyable part of working at Leapfrog/your job?
I get to work with an amazing team, I absolutely love meeting new people and nothing beats the feeling of making a positive impact on someone’s life/career.
Proudest moment in life to date?
As a mum of two (Mila, 7 and Raffy 3) I think the right answer here is my children!
One thing you would like to see happen/change in Guernsey?
While it's encouraging to see more flexible working options available since COVID-19, I'd like to see an increase in part-time roles as well. This would provide opportunities for skilled candidates who are struggling to secure employment due to caregiving responsibilities or health limitations.
Dream job when you were little?
I changed my mind all the time as a child – a vet, a teacher, a doctor, a famous popstar – at one point I even considered joining the army.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Family life keeps me quite busy outside of work and I’m normally at the beach, park or play area with my children! I also enjoy exploring Europe in our motorhome and eating out, I really appreciate good food and wine!
Business/personal goals you’re working towards?
I would like to undertake further professional qualifications to enhance my skills and hope to complete Diploma level qualifications through the REC.
Job in three words…
Fun, rewarding and valuable.
One thing you’d take to a desert island with you?
I am a total chocaholic, so likely to be the largest bar of chocolate I could find/carry!
