Work Family Balance Month
August is Work Family Balance Month.
Work Family Balance Month aims to highlight the unique challenges encountered by parents, caregivers, and those seeking a better work-family balance during the summer. August can be a challenging time for working parents, when holidays often result in reduced available care for their children.
It's not always easy to find balance but it is imperative to recognise the importance of employers offering flexibility to our working parents. Not only can it benefit workforce wellbeing but it also can benefit staff satisfaction and productivity.
Flexibility can be offered to parents and caregivers through numerous workplace practices:
Remote or hybrid working
Flexible hours or compressed working weeks
Workforce planning
In honour of Work Family Balance month, we asked our team what they love doing with their loved ones during their free time:
Chris Gnapp, Managing Director
“Mine would be taking my 2.5 year old to the beach and the park. I also play cricket and golf, my son is now showing an interest in golf which makes me very happy!”
Fiona Wright, Associate Director
“A simple walk around Torteval and Rocquaine - time to appreciate the real beauty we have right on our doorstep… Reset the mindset!”
Vicki Eppelein, HR & Payroll Services Manager
“Being August and keeping it seasonal, just simply hanging out in the garden, kids playing, having dinner outside and making the most of the good weather (when we have it) and the long days.”
Licinia Goncalves, Recruitment Consultant
“One thing I enjoy outside of work is taking long walks on the beautiful beaches of Guernsey with my family - it’s our perfect way to unwind and enjoy the stunning coastal views!”
Savannah Silva, Recruitment Consultant
“Friday night is pizza night! Me and my family meet most Fridays to make our own home-made pizzas. With my step dad having a pizza oven, it's only right that we put it to good use.”
Charlotte Edmonds, Office Administrator
“I love quality time with my daughter, seeing friends, and visiting the UK to see my son and granddaughter. I also love a leisurely Saturday morning in my PJs!”
Zoe Topping, HR & Payroll Consultant
“It’s the simple things with my young family that bring me the most joy: seeing the animals at the local farm, reading bedtime stories or playing board games together.”
