Betway Channel Islands Sports Awards 2019
I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Betway Channel Islands Sports Awards last Thursday at Beau Sejour, as a guest of the main sponsor.
The night is a celebration of sporting success and achievement in the Channel Islands and only goes to prove even further how we punch above our weight at national and international level.
There were four main awards on the evening, Neil MacRae (Jersey Cricket Coach) winning the Coach of the year award, Jersey Cricket deservedly winning the team of the year, Sam Culverwell won the Rising Star award before the main Channel Islands Sports Personality award.
This award was presented to Maya Le Tissier. At 17 years old, Maya has now signed her first professional football contract at Brighton and has captained England at her age group level, a fantastic achievement. She also spoke brilliantly on the night and I cannot think of a more deserving winner of the award.
A quick mention should go to Scott Quinnell (ex professional Welsh Rugby player) for being a brilliant speaker and also to Tony Curr and the team at Channel TV for putting on another slick and highly professional production.
Finally, thanks to Betway for inviting me along, everyone I spoke to had a great evening.
