A fantastic opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to support a well-established law firm in its Private Client and Trusts department! As a Legal Assistant, you will be an integral part of the team, providing essential support in estate administration and probate matters while ensuring a high standard of client service.

Responsibilities

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
Meeting with clients and maintaining regular communication throughout the estate administration process.
Preparing applications for probate and arranging grant applications locally and in other jurisdictions.
Attending court with clients and supporting them through legal proceedings.
Administering estates, including preparing estate accounts, identifying debts and liabilities, and completing tax returns.
Collating customer due diligence (CDD) for beneficiaries and liaising with third parties such as estate agents.
Undertaking legal research to support ongoing matters.
Building and maintaining professional relationships with Court staff, Crown Officers, legal professionals, and clerks from other firms.
Providing client support in a professional and sensitive manner in line with the firm’s client care standards.
Managing case files, including matter opening and closing, scanning, and filing.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be professional, detail-oriented, and empathetic, with strong people skills. They should be confident in dealing with a range of clients and professionals both in person and via correspondence.

A minimum of A-level (or equivalent) education is required, along with strong numerical skills and attention to detail. Prior experience in a legal setting, particularly in probate and estate administration, is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage deadlines under pressure, and the confidence to make sound decisions while knowing when to seek guidance.
